High-Intensity Complex Nursing Care
Professional NDIS support tailored to your needs
Complex nursing care is support provided by qualified Registered Nurses for people who have medical or health needs that require specialist skills and careful attention. This type of care helps participants stay safe, healthy, comfortable, and supported at home and in the community.
At ACN, our experienced nurses work closely with participants, families, and other health professionals to provide care that is individualised, respectful, and reliable.
Urinary Catheter Care
Some participants need help with a urinary catheter to safely drain urine from the bladder.
Our trained Registered Nurses:
- Change and care for urinary catheters
- Use aseptic (germ-free) techniques to prevent infection
- Monitor for signs of discomfort, blockage, or infection
- Ensure dignity, comfort, and privacy at all times
Why aseptic techniques are important:
If catheters are not changed using proper aseptic techniques, germs can enter the body and cause:
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Pain, fever, or serious illness
- Hospital admissions
Using aseptic techniques greatly reduces infection risk and keeps participants safe.
Enteral (Tube) Feeding Support
Some participants are unable to eat or drink safely and receive nutrition through a feeding tube.
At ACN, our nurses provide expert support for enteral feeding through:
- Naso-gastric (NG) tubes
- Jejunal tubes
- Duodenal tubes
Our nurses:
- Safely manage and monitor feeding tubes
- Ensure participants receive the right nutrition and fluids
- Reduce risks such as choking, infections, or tube blockage
- Provide education and reassurance to participants and families
Why nutrition and hydration matter:
Proper nutrition and hydration are essential for:
- Energy and strength
- Healing and immune health
- Preventing weight loss, dehydration, and infections
Our nurses follow care plans and provide expert advice to ensure participants receive the nutrition their body needs.
Complex Bowel Care
Some participants need support with complex bowel care due to medical conditions or disability.
Our nurses:
- Follow safe, hygienic, and respectful procedures
- Help prevent constipation, bowel accidents, or infections
- Monitor bowel health and comfort
- Support dignity and wellbeing
Correct bowel care helps reduce pain, discomfort, and serious health complications.
Tracheostomy Care
For participants with a tracheostomy, ACN provides skilled nursing support to help manage breathing safely.
Our nurses:
- Provide routine tracheostomy care
- Monitor breathing and airway safety
- Prevent infections and blockages
- Ensure comfort and confidence for participants
Holistic Complex Support at ACN
At ACN, we support participants who need higher levels of assistance, including:
- Personal care
- Mobility support
- Medical and nursing needs
